Broken.

The place that I sleep -

Is where angels cry -

Where demons fly -

And shadows creep.

I took this picture when I was up in Canada a few years back.
It chills me.
I hope it finds the same darkness in you too.

In Disguise

If you want to be part of the night, you've got to act like the night:

Creep like a shadow;
Lurk like a dream;
Whisper no warning and scream to them in tongue.

Study their fears;
Curdle their blood;
Pick at their soul and deliver the morning on the wing of a nightmare.

Rain.

I love falling asleep to the patter of rain.
It's trickle sings to me, soothes my mind, and makes me feel safe.

(Give me an "I Love It" below if you feel the same.)

Sink Down Into The Dark

This is a great lyric video.
And an even better song.
Hope you enjoy.

Here they come
Yeah, here they come
Out of the shadows
To take me to the Court

The Switch

All this energy I've spent being afraid of the darkness and what lurks within it.
When all this time, it's been fearing me.

Who knew?

Poltergeist

"Nobody likes a clown at midnight."  ~ Stephen King

So, last night/early morning I awoke and the TV is still on.  I figured I'd hit the sleep timer on my way back from the bathroom.  As I start back to bed, I look at the television screen exactly at the same time as that creepy, crazy clown from the new Poltergeist movie stares back at me.  (clip below) Yeah, I jump a bit.
My heart is racing and I let out a few choice curse words until the preview is over.
After this brief break of sanity, I couldn't help but think of two things:

The first thought that comes to mind is my sister.
She is terrified of the clowns and I do believe if this would have happened to her she may need some lifelong therapy for it.   (Sorry to call you out, sister.)
Me?  Clowns aren't my thing. Had the face that was staring at me from the TV been one of those creepy, soulless child faces from some haunting horror movie, then yes, I would still be curled up in a fetal position on the floor in my room.
:)
The second thought that came to me was the above quote by Stephen King.
There is so much truth to it that I had to chuckle.  Nobody likes a clown at midnight, or at 4:30 in the morning for that fact.  But as I curled back into bed, I thought of that evil clown face and I decided to take that scare as a sign.
A sign to go and see the movie!
It couldn't have been more clear.
Thus, I'll be checking out the Poltergeist remake this weekend.
I'll let ya know if it's worthy - unless some of you Creepsters have already seen it.
Then, please, let me know your thoughts.

My Mind

Found image here
Heart emoji (below) found here

And that's why I struggle with the honesty in my writing.
I'm sometimes afraid of what my mind will conjure up next;
What fresh nightmare will be unleashed;
What new demons will be unearthed.
But I'm working on it, and on myself.
I'm coming around and I'm finding my way a little bit more and more every time I dip the pen in the ink.
I have a a lot more short stories coming your way this summer.
I hope you'll stick around and venture on with me through this darkness.
I sure could use the company.

And, for own protection, please bring a nightlight,
you just never know what's lurking in those dark corners.

David Gray - Shine

I loves me some acoustics -
And, in my opinion, no one does it better than David Gray.
I love his gritty voice, his conflicting lyrics, and the rhythmic strum of that guitar.
There is something about this melody that makes me feel grateful and sad all in the same breath.
Maybe you'll agree, maybe not.
Maybe I just like this song because it promises me some light at the end of my journey:
"Step out the shadows, we're going to go where we can shine."

Yes, a little break from this darkness - that would be nice.

Thanks for the hope, David Gray.
Thank you for the possibility.

The Scream

This is just a paper replica of Munch's famed masterpiece.
Oh, how I would love to see the real version of it in person.
Guess I will just have to add Norway to my bucket list.

Follow the link below for more info on "The Scream" painting,
its creator, and some of his other works.
I was instantly impressed with all of his pieces.
There's just something about his style that resonates with me.
Maybe you'll feel some appreciation for them too.

From a Haunting...

"...it grew stronger, until finally, I could time its actual arrival - 10 p.m. exactly, it would be in the house waiting.  And as the intensity grew and its animosity grew, the more clearly I could 'see' it - a tall, dark, faceless, shrouded presence, utterly evil, utterly vile.  Just waiting and waiting and hating, there in the hall.  And I would either sit in the study, or lie wide-awake in bed waiting and waiting and willing that I'd not give way to fear, for I knew if I ever did, all was lost."

~ from the diary of Mrs. Le Leau in the haunting of her house in Oklahoma, the year 1930. (via D. Scott Rogo)

A Magnificent Nightmare

A magnificent nightmare indeed.
A friend of mine (thank you, Jenny!) introduced me to this video and it was a great watch.
I am such a fan of H.P. Lovecraft, and an even bigger fan of his mind.
If you get the time, please check out the following.  You will not be disappointed.

The Voynich Manuscript

I was reading one of my favorite magazines, Mental Floss, and came across an article involving a mysterious manuscript.  I am a sucker for such things and was immediately intrigued, thinking about its cryptic language, its possible content, its history.
This 240-page book is named the Voynich Manuscript and has baffled historians, linguists, and scientists for years.  The more I read on the subject, the more I am drawn into its world.

Your thoughts?
Is this a hoax?
A manuscript filled with secrets and solutions?
Are we giving too much attention to such a book?

Here's a list of additional sites on the subject if you're interested enough for further investigation:

Even if you do not follow this sport, it is a kick-ass song.
And one I must download to the ipod this week.
Anyone else liking it?
